SNMP

SNMP is a connector path for network device discovery, interface metadata, and basic telemetry.

Recommendations

• Prefer SNMPv3 where supported.
• Use scoped credentials and restrict source IPs.
• Document community strings only in approved secret stores if SNMPv2c is unavoidable.
• Start with a limited device range.

Caution

SNMP credentials can expose sensitive infrastructure metadata. Treat them as operational secrets.
